Zenon Presents:

For some reason monkeys, or apes, have alway been a huge hit in pop culture; planets of apes, giant building-climbing apes, space apes, the list goes on... Zenon will be taking a brief look at some memorable monkeys, or apes, that have made their way to the toy aisles and into collective pop culture memory!

First up is Zenon´s favorite Berserker Baboon, from the hit '90's cartoon Bucky O' Hare:

 Action figure:

Bruiser is a big hunk of orange plastic, released in 1990 by something called Continuity Graphics and toy mogul Hasbro. And ofcourse, like all other Berserker Baboons, he´s made in China.

Bruiser stands 4,5 inches tall and sports 7 points of articulation: head, arms, wrists and legs. He comes with a sweet blaster, which he unfortunately left at home so no accessory pic.

Bruiser´s sculpt is very well done with lots of details like lushious fur, armor and metal spikes. Unfortunately not everything is painted so things like his shorts and left hand glove remain solid orange. He's pretty toon accurate, BUT for some reason the toy has five-fingered hands, while the animated version has only four... Does not compute..

 Origin:

As said, Bruiser the Berserker Baboon is a character from the world of Bucky O' Hare.
Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars spawned mid-'80s as a comic book about anthropomorphic mammals who are in an intergalactic war รก la Star Wars with an empire of anthropomorphic toads. Bruiser joins Bucky's crew to replace his brother Bruce who has disappeared. He's an engineer and resident Toad Stomper on Bucky's ship The Righteous Indignation.

The comic ran from May 1984 to July 1985. The animated serie, Bucky O' Hare and the Toad Wars, originally aired in the UK and US September 8, 1991 – December 1, 1991, in which Bruiser is voiced by voice actor Dale Wilson.
